Sophomore Class Parent Coffee Forum (Thursday, April 16)

Navigating Naviance

Please join us for our Sophomore class parent forum on Thursday, April 16 (9:00am coffee / 9:30am presentation), in the Lecture Hall. Karen Burke, College & Career Specialist, will walk us through how to navigate Naviance. The Naviance platform is a comprehensive website that helps students make decisions about academic plans, colleges, and careers. Naviance is also used in FCPS school counseling offices to track and analyze data about college and career plans, so it provides up-to-date information that is specific to each student's school. More information about Naviance can be found here: https://www.fcps.edu/naviance. We look forward to seeing everyone on April 16th!

Parent Volunteers Needed for Ethics Day! (Thursday, March 12)

The PTSA needs more volunteers to make this annual off-site event for our seniors a success. Please sign-up or share this with anyone in the McLean community willing to lend a hand. Senior parents are welcome to participate! Alumni parents would make great volunteers too! Sign up here to help and for more details!

What is "Service Learning?"

FCPS encourages all students to participate in meaningful community service. Community service hours are logged into Naviance/X2Vol, which students learned to use while at Cooper.

  • Students who engage in at least 40 hours of service during their high school career (10 hours per year) are eligible to earn a Service Cord to be worn at graduation.

  • Volunteer hours are verified by activity sponsor, they are NOT verified by students or parents.

  • Hours reviewed/approved in X2Vol by Ms. Karen Burke, Career and College Specialist, who sits in the Career Center.

Any questions? Please reach out to Ms. Burke: keburke1@fcps.edu. If your student needs help getting into X2Vol.

What is "Saxon Service?"

Saxon Service is an opportunity for all students to earn one service hour once a month, in school, during Langley Links. Parents are always welcome to volunteer to help run Saxon Service! If you are interested, please email Julie Hohl: jbzimmerman@fcps.edu.

Class of 2028 Slideshow

Start taking photos now for the Class of 2028 Senior Year Slideshow! It may seem like a long way off, but our students’ graduation will come sooner than you can imagine. One of the most memorable moments of Senior Week (the week leading up to graduation) is the class video that is viewed at the Senior Breakfast attended by seniors and their families.

We can’t be everywhere.  However, YOU are always at the memorable moments of your child’s life and probably with a camera in hand!  Please share those great shots with us by e-mailing them to Classof2028@gmail.com.  Our goal is to have every student and activity represented in our Senior Class Video!

Include only pictures of the Class of 2028 and only Langley High School events, i.e. sports, concerts, dances, theater, treat days, Saxon Time, and field trips.  THANK YOU!

  • What is ANGP?

ANGP stands for All Night Grad Party. For 30 years, Langley Seniors have enjoyed a safe, fun all-night party after their graduation at Constitution Hall. The ANGP is sponsored by the LHS PTSA and hosted by an ANGP chair and committee of Senior parents.  Every LHS class provides volunteers to make the event a success. Freshmen parents setup, Sophomore parents decorate, Junior parents clean-up, and over 100 Senior parents organize and chaperone/work the event.

Seniors/graduates attend from 11:00 PM on the night of graduation until 4:00 AM the following morning. The goal is to reduce the risk of teen drinking and drug use on  graduation night, saving the lives of our teens and others in the community. ANGP provides our graduates a fun, safe, alcohol- and drug-free evening to celebrate one last time with all  of their classmates. Historically, more than 90 percent of the graduating seniors attend.
